To a beacon in the community

Our Church History

Our Church was organized in May 1900, by the Blalock, Ramsey, and Stevens families. Reverend James Moss was given the awesome task to become the first pastor of Bethlehem. The original location was a “brush Arbor”. They then started services in a wood building which has since been bricked in and serves as our current place or worship.

Bethlehem has served the Edgefield County area as a place of worship, praise and service to GOD and the community. Over the years, other men were called to shepherd this church family; Revered Wayde Harris, Reverend James Murray, Reverend Tom Holmes, Reverend Franklin, Reverend John Renue, Reverend John Williams, Reverend Frank Weaver, Reverend Rafield Moss, Reverend J.B. Bowman, Reverend W.H. McCain, Reverend Edward Lloyd, Reverend Craig Beasley and our current pastor, Reverend Leonard Franklin, Jr., all strong men of GOD, proclaiming the word of the LORD.

The church membership has grown over the years from a few to the present membership. Many have come to make Bethlehem their place of fellowship. Over the years, Bethlehem has added ministries to accommodate our growth. GOD is still in the blessing business!

Bethlehem stands as a beaconing light in the community. Its light illuminating the love of CHRIST, as the church is truly the place of Bread.
